Nurse, nurse what do you see?

What do you see when you look at me?

Nurse, nurse what do you see?

Do you see the black eyes making me ugly?

Nurse, nurse what do you see?

Do you see me shouting at hidden voices-a total loony?

Or do you look closer and see the real me?

A kind and loving person fighting to be free?

Paranoia and self harm is NOT the real me…

I hope that soon you will see ‘Naomi’

A story of mental illness in 10 poems…

I am going to tell you a story. It is a true story. It is my story! But I am going to tell it in a different way to how you might expect. I am going to tell my story of an experience of mental illness in 10 poems. These poems were written by myself at various points in my journey through the darkest times to a point I have reached now where I actually have found my hope!!!!

NazzyB…OVER and OUT!!!!!

So, this is my first blog and I want to say ‘welcome’ and ‘thank you’! I want to share with you some of my experiences of mental illness, recovery and hope. All of it…the good, the bad, AND the downright ugly. I wanted a space to share with anyone who is interested, anyone who has their own experiences of mental ill health, or knows someone-a friend, a family member, a colleague, anyone who maybe suffering. ¬†Or maybe those who have no understanding and are just interested.

My hope is to ultimately provide a REAL insight to the difficulties faced by so many, the misunderstanding, stigma, discrimination and fear of something which affects us all!

So thats a taster of what might come of this blog. I don’t know what will happen, where it will go but I want to help people to understand. And encourage those who do understand to share their thoughts and experiences with others in whichever way they feel comfortable, because we need to SPEAK OUT and BE HEARD!

Over the next ten days I will tell my story in ten short poems…I hope you will be interested enough to take a few minutes to check it out…who knows what might happen?!?
